Youth transitions: an analysis of the link between education and work of young graduates from argentine compulsory education

Abstract

The educational expansion and the continuity of difficulties regarding labor insertion are two prominent matters on the current debates about the transitions of the youths. In this context, this article is focused on analyzing both the educational experiences and the different situations related to the link of education - work activities during the first five years after graduating from compulsory education. The analysis shows the results of a study on young graduates (2011) from middle schools in Ciudad and Buenos Aires province, with its two central findings allowing us to glimpse differences in the process of choosing careers in higher education and different combinations with respect to the work experiences that are transited.
