Abstract

The present report accounts on a study carried out in order to learn the perceptions of young people belonging to a governmental school, regarding the use of information technologies in the scholary environment. A qualitative method was used and the resulting information was obtained through two focal groups and a interview carried out to first and second high school students. The information analysis was carried out following the model suggested by the Grounded Theory, building a descriptive and rational analysis of the information available.  The resulting information points out that students feel that technology is an immediate need, to which the school is not answering adequately, therefore, they reach for alternative learning strategies in order to cover the above mentioned need.
