Abstract

In this article, based on important discussion brought by Latin American researchers on the field, we aim to problematize some social discourses addressed to both young individuals and youth as social category. We highlight the role played by these discourses which, even in their constant tension with the spatial-temporal perspectives and experiences of these young individuals, represent subjectivation conditions for them, as they are subjacent to how they see themselves, how they speak about themselves and how they significant their actions and their being in the world. We regard these discourses, therefore, as potentially influential in the development of public policies and youth-oriented actions.
