Abstract
This essay focuses on the relationships between science, aesthetics and politics in 1680 NewSpain, as illustrated by the triumphal archs in the texts of Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora (Teatro de Virtudes Políticas) and Juana Inés de la Cruz (Neptuno Alegórico).
