Mediatisation of politics and media politicization. The possible implications of the docu-reality of complaint on Chilean television

Authors

Abstract

This text analyses the relevance that the media has acquired in the political communication processes in Chile. The relationship between mediatisation of politics and media politicization and its link to the so-called trivialization of politics is analysed in the light of technological advances that the media industry, in particular television, has experienced in recent decades. On the basis of the problematization of the concept of audiences a new format of Chilean television program is analysed, the docu-reality with denunciatory contents, and its positioning in a context of apparent political disaffection and questioning of political authorities from the audiences.
