This article about Rosario Castellanos proposes a reading approach that intends to inquire into the autobiographical problematics present in the poetical work of the Mexican author. Whith this purpose, the 'corpus' is revised from the viewpoint of the three elements established by Olney: 'autos', 'bios' and graphe', with the intention of defining the specificity of the poetical discourse.

This particular reading starts from some theoretical givens relating to Latin American theory and critique produced by women, some of them feminists. In this line, the construction of femenine identities and subjectivities present in the verbal poetical creation of Castellanos is inquired into, using the idea of gender as a conceptual and analytical tool. At the same time, the article intends to articulate the theoretical framework that has gone into the creation of the autobiographical writings and the different proposals meant to work out her practice in its specificity.

These theoretical constructs and the application of the model of reading proposed by Jauss from the reception theory, find themselves at the very base of the analysis and interpretation of the dyptich 'Two Poems". This dyptich belongs to the collection of poems "De la Vigilia Estéril". A selection from it appears in the Anthology "Poesía no eres tú", which includes most of her poetical work, published in Mexico in 1972.
