Abstract

There are certain people who work in universities and who describe their work as belonging to International Relations. What do they do and what should they do? Although International Relations has a distinctive theme, it is not really a theme. It cannot be said, as in mathematics, history, philosophy or economics, that it possesses not only a distinctive field of research but its own methods and techniques. Like all political studies in general, of which International Relations or World Politics is a part, they are the scene of struggles between methods, techniques and guidelines to follow.
