Abstract

This article describes the processes that in recent years have led to the recognition of renewable energy sources as one of the alternatives that will allow the sustained development of the APEC region in the new millennium. Mexico, as an economy-member of APEC, is one of the richest countries in these energy sources, whose use, despite a long history, has been minimized by the presence of exploitable reserves of fossil fuels. However, in recent years the use of renewable sources has regained its importance. This work mentions some measures that in the future could make it possible to better integrate renewable energies into everyday life, through the training of specialized human resources and through cooperation within the framework of APEC.
