Abstract

Having gone through a review of the pages of the Araucanian-Spanish section of Augusta’s Dictionary (1916), we examine the fluctuation of the vowel segments in the lexicon of Mapudungun. These variations are listed and quantified. We conclude that the most affected areas by fluctuation of the vowel triangle are in its higher grade and in its center, whereas the areas less exposed to vocalic oscillations correspond to the opener vowels.
