The virtual Shabbat of the kitá Pardés Alef. An experience from educational ethnography

Abstract

This article presents the partial results belonging to a larger investigation in which it is reported, through the methodological approach provided by educational ethnography, part of the educational experience of the celebration of the virtual Shabbat service developed in the kitá Pardés Alef, through a WhatsApp group, during the covid-19 pandemic. During its development, new pedagogical challenges were detected, such as the teaching of Jewish content and the management of technology, —as an educational tool, under the particularities of connectivity existing in Cuba—, and some of its solutions are shown here. In the field of Jewish education developed on the island, preserving the Shabbat has been a way to contribute to the survival of the Jewish people, its history and memory.
