It is published and discussed a detailed description (1573) on marginal provinces of government of Peru, supported by Viceroy Francisco de Toledo, before the Spanish court. The document provides precise information about the border between the kingdoms of Chile and Peru, which places in grade 22 and a half, explicitly up to Sansay, close to the port town of Cobija, coastal of the Atacama Desert. The article postulates that Sansay correspond to the modern port of Gatico, located south of Tocopilla.
