During their research in this region, the author had the opportunity to meet Don José Zúñiga Flores, an old militant agrarian enrolled in the ranks of the Central Campesina Independiente (CCI), who was also responsible for regional defense of the peasants in the decades of the ‘60s and ‘70s, during a time it murky history of the Huasteca due to land claims and their consequent repression.
