Abstract

Introduction: The insertion of occupational therapy in primary health care in Brazil takes place through a complex historical, social and political process. The practice scenario presents challenges as it moves away from traditional occupational therapy intervention associated with outpatient or hospital intervention, which is aggravated by recent changes in the National Primary Care Policy and the COVID-19 pandemic. Aim: To present approximations between the guidelines and principles of this level of care and the theoretical-methodological framework of the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method. Method: This is a systematization of clinical practice developed from September 2020 to February 2021. Results and Discussion: There is a congruence between the principles and guidelines of work in primary health care with the theoretical-methodological framework of the method used. For example, the notions of singular therapeutic project, expanded clinic, intersectoriality, ecomap and genogram are mentioned as interesting resources to expand health spaces and promote constructions in the daily lives of the assisted user, aiming his social insertion. Conclusion: There is some possibilities to articulate the work in primary health with the Dynamic Occupational Therapy Method. However, the challenges imposed by the context of the pandemic and by the recent changes in the National Policy for Primary Care and in the organization of the Expanded Center for Family Health and Primary Care are also recognized.
