Abstract

The elderly population has increased in recent years and is expected to continue to do so, leading us to inquire about the occupational participation of this population in Social Participation with peers/friends and Basic Activities of Daily Living, such as sexual activity. Both occupations are linked to a single phenomenon called sexuality, considered as a source of overall well-being, quality of life and a right. In view of this, the objective is to point out the approach of Occupational Therapy and its professionals in the sexuality of the Elderly according to the available empirical information, and to identify the theories from Occupational Therapy that guide the approach to sexuality as an occupation, from an argumentative methodology according to the guidelines that make up an essay. It was found that the researches indicate a scarcity of the approach to sexual activity as an occupation and it was found that the phenomenon of sexual activity and its occupational problematic, does not have models and disciplinary instrumentalization.
