The progress of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Chile and the world causes several eff ects, some of them unexpected. In our research we decided to head into this problem from the perspective of impoverished neighborhood housewives, because they have a paradigmatic position that incarnates a gender situation, which is the axis on which the context and demands of the uses and applications of the ICT produce the consequences we are trying to unveil. Such consequences will be reviewed from eight dimensions, some of them are the online experience, fears, relationships with others and personal development. In this article we present a summary of the results of the analysis.
