This article aims to account for the interventions that have been carried out in the National Stadium since its declaration as a historical monument as a site of memory in 2003, when it began an effective process of resignification due to its condition as a center of detention, torture and extermination. This, in relation to the context of major sporting
events and especially the Pan American and Parapan American Games Santiago 2023, when the biggest transformation occurred in the site since its creation in 1938, coinciding with the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the coup d'état. From these interventions, we seek to show to what extent they take care of its heritage condition, and give value to the Site of Memory, while presenting an opportunity in terms of human rights education.
