This article aims to understand the situation of working class in the pro[1]duction of red ceramics in Pernambuco from the perspective of Brazilian labor legislation. The method of this investigation is the dialectical historical materialism, supported by the methodological procedures: literature survey; field research in ceramic industries in Paudalho, Pernambuco, and semi-structured interviews with workers. The results show the obvious exploitation and precariousness of working class in the factories visited, leaving them vulnerable to serious accidents and health problems; which, in turn, has been hurting the Consolidation of Labor Laws in Brazil and, consequently, human dignity as the working class are unable to emerge for a sustainable situation of work and life, accentuating the historical social inequality situation in which they are.
