Abstract

This paper attempts to explain the aspects that shape the current state of the regulation on the medical record. It has been divided into three parts. The first is the relationship between the record, the right to privacy and data protection. The second part reorganizes the laws, regulations and technical standards, and presents them on the topics estimated as relevant. Finally, the third contains a brief discussion of certain attributes to consider about regulation, which illustrate how to understand the underlying conflicts or those conflicts that may arise between confidentiality and other rights or interests.
