In 1815 came into force at the University of Córdoba the fi rst national curriculum, written by its former rector, the dean Gregorio Funes. For the teaching of the canons the Plan indicated the Instituciones canónicas by Juan Devoti, modifying a long tradition in this area. The article traces the presence of Devoti in various university programs, studies the content of his work in relation to the hierarchical relationship between popes, bishops and councils, and analyzes the intention of Funes to order it to the Cordobese house of studies
