Abstract

This paper deals with some of the results of the DI-U .Chile MULT 04/29-2 research project (2005-2006). The changes in the settling pattern experienced in three counties in the Maule Region are analysed. This is a resettling and rural population concentration process empowered by the Globalization of the Economy and the support of the state through social housing policies. The data base is taken from the 1992 and 2002 population census through the Redatam Program, the Cartography from the Instituto Geográfico Militar, the List of village: provided by each city hall along with a field visit, besides information collected through interviews and questionaires.
