Resumen

The author of this article first raises the problem of the relevance of the presence of the Arabs in Spain, to consider next sorne characteristics of their transit to America and in particular, to Chile. He then, offers and overview of the way members of the different groups of Palestinians, Syrians, Lebanese and other Arab nations adapted th emselves to Chilean life through a diversity of trades and occupations. His view is that the latter generations of their descendants have been gradually losing certain traditions of their old ancestry.
